I Strongly Dislike Labels.

Hello Everyone... Once again, I am very sorry for not having a post in a while. I was at a Summer camp, and had an amazing time, and there was a huge out pouring of the Holy Spirit there... People were speaking in tongues, being healed... It was the whole nine yards! LOL... Not quite the way to put something so amazing... But words cannot truly describe what happened at camp.

Anyways, I hope you are all having a blessed week, and aren't mad at me for not posting in so long. :)

I strongly dislike labels... Labels of all kinds. There is one in particular that I dislike the most, and it is the label "emo". Emo is an over-used label, that should never be used in the first place.
I often get called emo because of the dark colored clothes I like to wear, or fingerless gloves, or skinny jeans... But it's just my taste in clothes. I also enjoy loud music... Such as Skillet, Red, Decyfer Down, FlyLeaf, Thousand Foot Krutch, ect, ect.... And that does not make me emo. The original version of emo is "A depressed person who cuts them selves." and I am not that person. Personally, I don't think that people who cut themselves should be called Emo, or be looked down on. They are loved by God, just as much as anyone else is, and they need to be shown that, and that hurting themselves is not the answer. I've known more than one person that used to cut themselves... They did it for a number of reasons, but for most people that I've known it's because they don't feel good enough. Like they can't do anything right, and nobody loves them... And none of those things they thought were true. If you know someone who has a problem with cutting, don't hate them. Don't yell at them, or call them emo, and make poor judgments on them. Because as I said, Jesus loves them just like he loves anyone else. We have all made our own mistakes, and it's not up to us to judge others for their mistakes.

Another label I don't care for is the Boyfriend/Girlfriend label... Especially in the early teen ages... Such as 12, 13, and 14. There are even 9 year olds who have boyfriends. Now, I don't have anything against them, I just don't choose to follow what they do. I don't believe in the boyfriend/girlfriend thing. The worlds judgement of what love is, is totally whacked. I'm not going to go on and on about what love is because that would just turn into a whole other blog post. :D
I think that WAY too much gossip, and hurt comes with that label, and it really just isn't worth it, and it can draw you away from what God is wanting for you.

You should never judge something or someone just by what someone else says about them... Never judge a book by it's cover, or anything or anyone for that matter!

Have a blessed day, and feel free to comment and express any feelings or questions you may have!

  1. I like to dress in black, and listen to my music extremely loud as well. : D

In regard to the cutting type, we do need to tell them that God loves them, but that He hates their sin. Not only will God help them not be lonely or depressed anymore, but Jesus will reconcile them to God in a right relationship. He has to do that because we sin. Sin angers God and, unless Jesus has paid the price for us, we will end up in Hell, tormented for eternity.

What's great is that I would've totally agreed with you about the Bfriend/Gfriend thing until about three months ago when I found out that the pastor's daughter whom I had secretly liked for a while liked me too. We are best friends, and literally perfect for each other. My church believes in waiting to look for a spouse until you're ready for marriage, however, so my parents have recently gotten involved.

I have heard some good things about Rascal Flatts, even that they have some distinctively Christian songs, but my parents won't let me listen to anything non-Christian.

Twilight focuses on vampires and romance. The girl idolizes the guy by wanting to lay down her life to be with him forever. We should only have that sort of reverence toward God. Plus, vampires are totally against God. Why do you think they cower at crucifixes and "holy water"? Just something to think about.

Thank you for this blog. You seem to agree with me on a lot of things, and I enjoy hearing from you.

  2. Summer camp rocks. I agree with what UR saying Isabella, labels can really hurt. And adding to the BF/GF thing: it really annoys me when you have someone who's just a friend and people go jumping to conclusions. Never fun. :P Can't wait for your next post!
